Spring approaches: Time to spiff up!

When winter impends, we’re always good about reminding you what you should do to get your car through the cold and rainy months. But now, the gloomy time of year is giving way to glorious spring, with its wildflowers, green landscape and bright, mild days that invite touring Sonoma County’s Backroads.

To get your car ready, we recommend:

If you’ve been using a heavier viscosity oil for winter driving, switch now to a lighter viscosity. Spring and summer driving in Sonoma County will be in invariably mild conditions that don’t require a different degree of engine protection.

Check your moldings, undercarriage and other hidden and often unvisited places on your car for rust, corrosion or dryness. If you need repairs, arrange to have them made well in advance of next winter.

Check your antifreeze. You need as much in spring as you do in winter. In any case, remember that antifreeze has corrosive inhibitors which over time become corrosive!

Your shock absorbers may have taken a beating from winter potholes, so check them for any mushiness that might indicate they’re getting long in the tooth.

Replace your windshield wipers. Winter takes a toll on them with rain and slush.

Remember, we can perform all these services for you, from a simple oil change and thorough once-over to a complete diagnostic and any repair you can imagine.
