Jaguar Stakes Its “Look” If you worry that Ford’s huge infusion of cash and Jaguar’s commitment to introduce a spate of new models is going to make the brand jump all over the design map, stop right now. The distinctive grille design that made everybody sit up and take notice when it was introduced on the S and R-Types will be around for a long time and will show up in Jaguar’s new models. Jaguar’s chief design guru, Ian Callum, says the grille, with its echoes of the old XK-120, will be a Jaguar signature look for some time to come. “Every company needs something that really belongs to it,” he says, indicating that no other car on the road has as distinctive a front end as the new Jaguars. “I believe that grille is the future for most of our products.” ■ |
